Testing Rubric

Post by Guest on Thu Feb 26, 2015 4:36 pm

Note: All credit for the testing Rubric goes to Reessiel, he was kind enough to donate this to us.

The test is a best of three match. If the participant quits at any time during the test, he or she is given automatic Sword Art Pink. You (the testee) must provide your tester with the cards you are siding in/out highlighted so that you may be graded on your siding. A retest is 500DP. Testers must write explanations so testee can improve more easily.

Banned decks:
-tier 1
nekroz
qliphorts
BA
shadolls
tellarknights

-tier 1.5
volcanics
ritual beasts
yosensju
Masked Heros

-Alternate win condition
-Mill/Deck out deck
-Stall
-Troll
-OTK oriented decks
(if you OTK your opponent but your decks objective is not actually to do that it is fine)
-OCG DECKS

Tester Deck:
Testee deck:

Results of the Duel : ?/15
1-2 = 5/15
2-1 = 10/15
2-0 = 15/15

Control of duel: ?/15 - How much and how well did the testee control the duel? Did they make plays that gave them card advantage? Did they maintain field control? Did they interrupt your plays/combos? Points are not to be passively awarded here: You don't start at 15 and then remove points, you start at 0 and must give good reasons why you are awarding points for this category with specific examples. This should be the hardest category.

Main Deck Build : ?/10 - This is hard to rate because we have different opinions, but use the following as a guide: Does the deck synergise (do the cards work well together)? Can the testee keep to a 40 card deck (for consistency)? Does the testee include cards in the deck which are current and up to date? How well do these cards perform in the current format and finally do all the cards in the deck work towards achieving either card advantage and/or field control?

Extra Deck : ?/10 - Is this filled with cards that are useful in any situation, is it just cards thrown in that they're able to use? For example 3 copies of Utopia in any deck is fairly useless these days what are they missing that they can run over Utopia. What can be taken out what can be added in? This should not be given 5/5 just because they can summon what the testee has.

Concentration : -2 for each mistake ?/5 - This is where you take points if the testee had to "take anything back" or was in some other way distracted from what was happening. This includes misclicks.

Missplays : -5 for each missplay ?/10 - This is NOT misclicks. LEGAL activations of cards or effects that have no effect on the game. (Example; trying to activate MST to negate a spell or trap.) Activating Compulsory Evacuation Device targeting a Priestess of Prophecy whilst the player still has 3 Spellbook spell cards in hand. -5 points for each misplay.

Card/Ruling Knowledge : -3 points for every mistake ?/10 - Does the testee seem familiar with the tester's deck? Do they demonstrate that they understand how to play against your deck, and do need to (repeatedly) ask for time to read card effects. If they require explanation of a SPECIFIC card or rule, you can take points off this category when scoring. If they ask "what exactly are you doing?" this is NOT a mistake and you are not allowed to remove points for this. You must clarify what you are activating, when, what part of the chain you are in, etc. etc. This can include illegal activation of cards and effects. Eg; Attempting to bottomless a summon whilst a chain is resolving.

Side Deck : ?/10 - Are the side cards effective in countering specific decks? More importantly, do they give what the main deck lacks? If the main deck is already Gravekeeper's, maybe Dimensional Fissure, Macro Cosmos, and 2 D.D. Crows are not such useful side options for example. Are they running Crystal Beasts and have 3 fairy wind in their side as opposed to spell shattering arrow?

Siding : ?/10 - Did the testee side in (and, importantly, out) well against you in the duel? Did they use the best possible cards from their side deck and did they remove the worst possible cards (against your deck) from their main deck? For example you're playing a deck that never special summons they have 3 main decked vanity's emptyness, do they side them out or leave them in even though they aren't needed against your deck?

Sportsmanship : ?/5 - Was the testee polite? How did they carry themselves?

Total: ?/100

Sword Art Pink : 0-59

Alfhiem Green: 60-79

Gun Gale Blue : 80-99

Notes to testers: For the misplays, card/ruling knowledge, and concentration categories - you are to start at maximum points for the category and to deduct points based on the testee's mistakes. For ALL OTHER CATEGORIES you are to start at 0 points, and work your way up. Full points may never be awarded to a testee because "there was nothing wrong". Full marks are only to be awarded in exceptional cases. Full marks represent absolute perfection in a category, and should rarely be awarded. When posting the Test Results you should remove all the explanations of how points should be awarded and replace them with -your- explanations and reasoning behind awarding the points that you chose to. This is so that the Test Results look cleaner, whilst still providing you a copy/paste template that provides you guidance in scoring testees. Additional note: In the new rubric you are intended to TRY TO WIN. Don't go easy on the testee. Play a strong deck you are good with and try to beat them. The results are not so dependent any more on the match outcome and the windows for Gun Gale are wider. You must play to win.

Notes to testees: Don't worry about your placement. It's not an award, and it's not the end of the world. The purpose of the test is to place you into a dorm where you will have the best experience and improve the fastest. The rubric is open to be read, but you are encouraged to play as you normally do and not attempt to game the rubric. It doesn't benefit any of us in the long term; especially you.

Update: Testees are not required to take a rulings test. The tester must administer the test using the rulings test from the staff lounge.

Furthermore, ygopro and devpro is now allowed for dorm tests.

Anime duels are still forbidden in tests though.
